Jardine Logistics has been awarded this year's Hong Kong award for services in export marketing, while Modern Terminals (MTL) was one of the winners of the Productivity Council's award for services. Jardine Logistics' award was in recognition of the company's marketing strategy, which resulted in a 40 per cent increase in revenue from export services and a 30 per cent increase in overseas customers over the past three years. 'We just did what we needed to do to grow our business and promote our services to overseas markets. In participating in this award, we just told the judging panel exactly what we'd done,' Jardine Logistics president Vincent Wong said. MTL received the award for reducing its unit rate per teu (20 ft equivalent unit) in the past few years. Last month, the company set two records. While working on one of its customers' vessels, it achieved an average of 192 container moves per berthing hour, which beat its previous record of 166 moves. One crane made an average of 44.35 moves per hour, which bettered its record of 43 moves. The award received by Jardine was established specifically to promote excellence in the marketing of Hong Kong's services overseas. It aims to heighten awareness of the importance of export marketing strategies, methods and techniques among service providers in Hong Kong.
