Cross-strait trade rockets 45pc after recovery from earthquake

The level of indirect trade between Taiwan and the mainland in October soared 45.7 per cent to US$2.48 billion due to a recovery in exports after a slowdown in outward shipments caused by an earthquake in September. Taiwan's Board of Foreign Trade said exports rose 48.8 per cent to $2.05 billion and imports moved up 33 per cent to $436 million.
