Leading trainer John Moore is to face a grilling over Millennium Cup contender Master Magic.

The horse was withdrawn from a race at Sha Tin last Sunday because it was reported to be not eating properly but two days later was declared for the Millennium Cup to be run at Happy Valley tomorrow night.

Stipendiary stewards yesterday ordered a special veterinary check.

Moore, who was been out of Hong Kong since last week, was due to return last night.

Chief vet Keith Watkins and Peter Schiff, the Moore stable vet, watched and examined Master Magic yesterday and reported that the horse was in good condition. They said he trotted up well and showed no signs of lameness or soreness.

The vets stated Master Magic was extremely fresh and, while being led up, kicked and bucked with vigour.

As the horse had been officially withdrawn because of inappetance - or a loss of appetite - Master Magic was observed when presented with his afternoon feed.
