The beneficiary of this year's Operation Santa Claus, the Hong Kong Blind Union, said yesterday it was delighted with the outcome of the campaign.
Executive secretary Winnie Wong Mei-yiu expressed gratitude to companies and members of the public who made contributions.
'On behalf of the blind and visually impaired children in Hong Kong and across the border, I want to thank all supporters of Operation Santa Claus who showed their love and care ' she said.
Ms Wong also said the union was thrilled when RTHK and the South China Morning Post contacted it regarding the campaign.
'The public awareness aroused concerning the blind children is most precious to us. And we hope society will pay more attention to them even after the campaign,' she added.
Contributions will be used to buy futher special teaching equipment, especially hi-tech items which could help such children learn more easily.
