Officials are planning to open a Silicon Valley recruitment agency in a bid to attract mainland students to return home, Beijing mayor Liu Qi has revealed.
The recruitment agency was highlighted by Mr Qi to illustrate one of the many ways Beijing plans to differentiate itself from Shenzhen's high-technology zone.
The Silicon Valley office is expected to be operating within the year.
It would offer special incentives such as tax breaks to lure mainland students to the capital to work in hi-tech fields, the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Park's development office said.
As part of the national push to develop Beijing's hi-tech industries, the Third China Beijing International High-Tech Industries Week has been designated as a state-level international exchange.
It will be held from May 8 to May 12.
This year's exhibition, twice the size of its predecessors, already has drawn companies representing more than 40 different countries.
