Welsh singer, 13, finds rich voice

Thirteen-year-old Welsh singing star Charlotte Church has joined Elton John and the Rolling Stones as one of the top earners in the British music industry, according to a survey released yesterday.

The teenage sensation - whose many fans include US President Bill Clinton and Pope John Paul - earned about GBP6 million (HK$76.32 million) before tax last year, putting her in tenth spot in Heat magazine's chart of top earners.

Church was transformed from unknown schoolgirl into international star after appearing on a television talent show.

Her first two albums became instant best-sellers.

She says she allows herself GBP50 a month pocket money, and the rest goes in the bank.
