The maker of the best-selling Furby toy is to take legal action against five exhibitors for allegedly selling fakes at last week's Hong Kong Toys and Games Fair.

Tiger Electronics, a subsidiary of United States toys giant Hasbro, vowed to take 'all possible legal measures' against the five companies involved.

Suspected fake Furby toys and catalogues featuring Furby-like products were removed from exhibition shelves during the four-day fair, which ended last Thursday.

Tiger Electronics said it would take legal action against the five for offering for sale or selling unauthorised Furby copies at the exhibition.

A spokesman said it planned similar action in other countries, including Taiwan, Singapore, Japan and Korea after earlier successful legal actions in the mainland.

The problem of fakes prompted a group of Hong Kong exhibitors to storm last week's fair and seize products they claimed were copies.
