The Center in favour with technology firms

Cheung Kong

Cheung Kong (Holdings) has succeeded in attracting high-technology companies to lease office space in The Center, a joint-venture development in Central with the quasi-governmental Land Development Corp.

Two of the new tenants, Chinese Books CyberStore and ITVentures, have together leased about 38,000 square feet.

Another two, letalone.com and iLink.net, leased an entire floor each at the development.

Cheung Kong leasing manager Tom Tong said the 80-storey building was attractive to hi-tech companies because it offered them tailor-made facilities.

These included a 360mm raised floor which is higher than normal and gives room for the installation of data cables and other communications equipment.

The floor plate of The Center averages 25,000 to 26,000 sq ft.
