China Telecom has added 21.39 million customers during the period, pushing its customer base past 100 million.

China Telecom said it had expanded its overall capacity by extending its long-distance fibre optics cables to 213,000 kilometres nationwide.

The company also tried to solve international telecommunications congestion problems in the mainland by increasing its international phone capacity to 33,000 lines and extending Internet cable bandwidth.

The company said it would continue to build its digital and multi-media business this year.
