TONY Cruz will not be appealing against the three-meeting suspension imposed by race-meeting stewards at Sha Tin on Saturday.

The Hongkong idol received a three-day ban for careless riding after his mount, the favourite Star Of Marble, finished third in the final event.

A close study of the video replay showed that the stewards, led by chief stipe Bernard Hargreaves, had no alternative but to ban Cruz after Star Of Marble bumped into Scotch Dragon who then went into New Trend and Intermac Supreme as they came off the home corner.

Cruz spent yesterday relaxing with his children at Beas River, away from the tensions of trying to win his sixth jockeys' title but his first since he left to ride in France five years ago.

He said: ''I will not be appealing against the ban which now hands a big advantage to Basil (Marcus) in the race for the title.

''I have lost a lot of chances from being out for three meetings and Basil will obviously gain plenty of opportunities from me not being at the races.
