Triad boss faces 3 years for threats
Convicted Macau triad boss 'Broken Tooth' Wan Kuok-koi faces up to three more years in jail when he stands trial over alleged death threats made as he was being sentenced in November.
A judiciary source said yesterday that Wan would be charged over death threats he allegedly made against several prison warders and the then judicial police director Antonio Marques Baptista after hearing his 15-year sentence at the Court of First Instance on November 23.
The threats were allegedly made in an outburst as Wan was being taken away from the courtroom.
Threats are punishable by up to three years in jail under the Macau Penal Code.
The source said the trial would possibly be held in March.
Wan, 44, is also expected to face trial later this year for his alleged involvement in the attempted assassination of Lieutenant-Colonel Antonio Apolinario and a bomb attack that destroyed Mr Baptista's car on May 1, 1998. Both Colonel Apolinario and Mr Baptista now live in Portugal.
