SCMP Reporter

The Consular Corps Ball held in the Island Shangri-La ballroom saw a large contingent of diplomats, consuls-general and honorary consuls-general turn up.

 Organised by Jorge Abarca del Carpio, the Consul-General of Peru and doyen of the consular corps, the evening was nostalgic since Mr Abarca is leaving Hong Kong after six years to take up an ambassadorial posting.

 More than 200 guests enjoyed good food and wine, and most took to the dance floor while entertained by jazz singer Laverne Butler.
