About 3,000 faulty and potentially dangerous electric socket extension units were recalled yesterday over fears they will overheat.
The supplier of four models of Winner six-way extension units agreed to recall the products after the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department tested them and found they were unsafe.
A department spokesman said the tests followed a complaint from a consumer who said he heard a rattling sound inside a unit. No one is known to have been injured by the units.
The recalled items, bearing model numbers B1306SL, B1366SL, B1306SL4 and B1366SL4, have been on sale throughout the territory since last August.
About 3,000 are believed to have been sold.
Householders who have bought the units are urged to stop using them immediately and return them to the supplier, Ever-Winner Electric Works.
