Mobile operator Peoples Telephone is considering an initial public offering (IPO) this year, according to the company's management.
Peoples' management said the company would consider the move after rival Sunday said it would seek a listing. Earlier, controlling shareholder China Resources Holdings had said it planned to inject Peoples into its listed Hong Kong arm China Resources Enterprise.
The final decision would depend on the success of Sunday's forthcoming IPO, management said.
China Resources refused to comment.
Sunday, which has similar operational numbers to Peoples, according to analysts' estimates, intends to raise US$300 million from an IPO in Hong Kong and on the Nasdaq in March.
Peoples claims it has 330,000 subscribers while Sunday claims 290,000.
