Students have fun while brushing up on their language skills at English Festival
THE inviting slogan at the English Festival at Wesley College said ''Comea nd join us.''.
An annual event that began in 1983, the festival is the school's biggest activity of the year. And this being the 10th anniversary, the event was held on a bigger scale than usual.
Organisers went out of their way to make the festival more interesting and stimulating than in previous years.
Programmes were varied to suit students with different interests. Competitions included essay and slogan writing, penmanship and karaoke. There were highly popular song dedications and stall games as well.
The aim of the English festival is to show students that learning English can be interesting and full of fun. Through games, activities and competitions, students are encouraged to use English outside the classroom.
The four-day festival, held early this month, began with a fun fair. There were 10 booths set up by students of Forms 3, 4 and 6. The games were designed not only to entertain but also to test students' vocabulary and use of English. The fair was held over three afternoons in the school hall.
