Envoy 'hasn't applied for visa'

Taiwan's unofficial envoy to the SAR has yet to submit his visa application, Secretary for Security Regina Ip Lau Suk-yee said yesterday.

Recent reports said Chang Liang-ren's application was still being processed.

Mrs Ip said yesterday no application had been received from Mr Chang.

He could not be reached last night.

Mr Chang's appointment followed the departure of his predecessor, Cheng An-kuo, late last year after he became embroiled in a row over his remarks on President Lee Teng-hui's 'two states' theory.
