Anson Chan Fang On-sang has decided against bringing in uniform guidelines on how subsidised bodies such as the Hospital Authority should pay employees holding public office.
Chief Secretary for Administration Mrs Chan said the bodies must retain flexibility.
Legislators who have to take time off their work in universities, subsidised schools or the Hospital Authority are subject to different pay restrictions. Some contribute part of their Legco pay as compensation to their employers, while others have to give up a percentage of their salaries.
After an internal review, Mrs Chan said individual bodies should retain their autonomy. 'This is not a matter that the Government should seek to direct from the centre,' she said.
Mrs Chan said the bodies had their own guidelines which best suited their needs.
