I refer to Bernard Wijedoru's letter 'Allied and Axis powers must share war guilt' (SCMP March 4). While I concur that the Allies committed acts of war that were disgraceful, I refuse to accept that they were 'equally dreadful crimes'.
The indiscriminate bombing of cities was terrible but to compare this with the Holocaust is to belittle that greatest crime of the human race.
The systematic extermination of a religious people in the most calculated and inhuman fashion is and always will be a crime without parallel. It remains to this day the greatest shame of our species. To make the comparisons that Mr Wijedoru does in his letter is insulting to the Jewish people and to your readers' intelligence.
