DVB (Holdings) may be renamed for the second time in a year after an industry organisation claimed it had rights to the existing name.
The organisation had sent a letter to the company protesting its use of the term DVB, which stands for digital video-broadcasting, chairman Johnson Ko Chun-shun said. As a result, the company was considering changing its name.
'They said DVB is an international standard. But I think their letter was of a friendly nature,' Mr Ko said.
DVB was formerly known as Capetronic International Holdings.
Mr Ko, after an extraordinary shareholders' meeting yesterday, said DVB intended to continue disposing of its holding in loss-making computer monitor manufacturer Capetronic International (Thailand).
DVB has a 17.6 per cent stake after selling a 15.9 per cent holding in the past three months for $43.7 million.
