A Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation freight operations manager was paid $5,000 a month in bribes for nine months for sub-leasing an empty office to a director of a paper company, a court heard. He was also accused of accepting advantages for allocating parking spaces for storage. John Timothy Leung Chiu-ming, 55, denies 18 bribery and smuggling charges brought by the Independent Commission Against Corruption. The District Court heard that Leung, 55, received bribes from paper company director Ho Tai-kwan from February to October last year. It was alleged Leung accepted $5,000 each month in exchange for sub-leasing to Mr Ho an empty office in the corporation's warehouse at Mongkok Freight Terminal. His trial continues before District Court Judge Esther Toh Lye-ping.
