The winner of the South China Morning Post 's Student of the Year Award, Eleanor Chan Ngar-wing, has the lofty goal of using her language skills to promote better cultural understanding among countries.
The sixth former's fluent French won her top prize in an international competition, Let's Go To France, which involved 120 countries. She also was an ambassador for Hong Kong in a cultural exchange trip to Paris and was selected for a TV interview on a French programme about the Chinese language and Hong Kong culture.
The Diocesan Girls' School student also excels in other fields.
Two years ago, Ngar-wing founded the Super-teen Graduates' Association which brought together previous participants in a leadership training camp. The association organises community service projects, leadership training seminars and publishes a newsletter.
She has attained Grade Five in the piano, plays the recorder, swims and plays tennis.
She won the life-saving championship in an inter-school swimming competition last year.
