An emergency landing by a Cathay Pacific Boeing 747 cargo plane forced the closure of one of Heathrow airport's two main runways yesterday morning.
The jet, with five people on board, burst several tyres on take-off from Dubai, but carried on to London, where it flew low over the control tower so officials could look at the undercarriage.
The plane landed safely as fire engines and ambulances stood by. The runway was closed for almost two hours, delaying some flights for up to an hour.
