A pair of rare white-bellied sea eagles may have to move their nest to make way for Mickey Mouse, an environmental report on the future Disneyland said.

But the report, compiled by the Civil Engineering Department, said the birds would only have to move in the worst-case scenario because the potential disturbance caused by the theme park project would be moderate.

The department released two environmental impact assessment reports on Disneyland and related projects on north Lantau yesterday, concluding the developments would comply with environmental laws.

The reports are necessary before construction can start.

One of the reports said disturbance to the birds would be minimised through controlling construction practices and maximising the distance between the nesting site and the theme park.

It said the park's firework displays would be about 800 metres from the nesting site but it could not be ruled out that the birds would flee as a result.

The closest point from the theme park to the nest site would be about 500 metres.
