A fireman walks from the smoke-and foam-filled lobby of Immigration Tower in Wan Chai. More than 30 people were rescued and 231 helped to safety after a fire was discovered in a ground-floor transformer room at about 6.30pm. Smoke spread as far as the 39th floor, before the fire was put out two hours later. Officials said some of the government offices, including immigration and transport offices, in the Gloucester Road building might be unable to open this morning. A 43-year-old man was taken to hospital but treated and discharged.
