THE Hok Yau Club is recruiting voluntary counsellors and workers to man their popular HKCEE hotline. Last year, the club recorded about 160,000 calls. The club also distributed about 100,000 copies of the Secondary 5 Candidates' Guidance Books. This year, apart from continuing to issue the handbook, the club will strengthen the counselling service. A prospective counsellor should have a Secondary 6 or above academic qualifications or Secondary 5 but he/she must be over 21 years old. Those selected will attend a training course, which will begin on June 28 (every Sunday at 1 pm) and lasts five weeks. The course will cover an introduction to counselling concept and skills, and how to deal with the information and operation. The course fee is $80 and participants will receive a programme handbook and T-shirt. Those interested may visit the Hok Yau Club Counselling Centre, 1/F, 308 Lockhart Road, Wan Chai, or ring 519-6193. The deadline for application is June 18.
