Rescuers tend to Wai Hon-ming, 36, who fell from scaffolding on the 14th floor of a building yesterday but was saved by a metal structure six storeys down. Mr Wai, was last night fighting for his life in Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital. Police said the worker fell from the scaffolding while working with his 19-year-old colleague to pull out an air-conditioner on the outer wall of the Wah Ha Factory Building in Shipyard Lane, Quarry Bay, at 3pm. A police spokesman said: 'He landed on a metal structure outside an eighth-floor unit, suffering injuries to both his legs and left arm.' His colleague told police Mr Wai was not wearing a safety belt. The Labour Department is investigating the incident.
