Anyone remotely connected to club culture will know trance is the of-the-moment genre in electronica music.

Much like the rest of the world, the local party scene has become infatuated with this psychedelic music style, which evolved from the music being spun at parties in Goa.

Trance fans are in for a treat this weekend with the Platipus Tour. The British trance label has become synonymous with some of the best in the genre.

Superstar DJs Paul Oakenfold, John Digweed and Carl Cox have all attested to Platipus' creative artistry, while Ben Turner, editor of Britain's respected Muzik Magazine, dubbed Platipus the 'most consistent and underrated UK dance label. They own trance'.

Formed in 1993 by Simon Berry, it wasn't until 1996 that Platipus was catapulted into the spotlight. Berry, on a trip to Florida, heard a track by Italian producer Robert Miles.

Platipus released the single, Children, and the small label had a hit. The song charted in Britain, across Europe and in the United States, and turned trance into a viable, commercially successful genre.
