THE Hongkong Cultural Centre Midsummer Classics promises to be a feast for music lovers. The Budapest Strauss Symphony Orchestra will be performing six concerts at the Cultural Centre's Concert Hall from July 26 to August 1. Comprising players from the finest of Hungarian symphony orchestras, the Budapest Strauss Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1986 by Istvan Bogar, who is the conductor and arranger of the orchestra. Led by Peter Hidi, a recipient of the Liszt prize, the orchestra with top-flight Hungarian piano, violin and flute soloists will also be joined by popular violinist Takako Nishizaki, in a series of programmes ranging from Euro-classics to Canto-pop. Tickets at $40, $70, $100 and $150, with half-priced tickets for students and senior citizens, are available at URBTIX outlets. A bulk purchase of six to 10 tickets will be offered a 10 per cent discount, 11-20 tickets get a 20 per cent discount and 20 or more tickets a 30 per cent discount.
