South China striker Ricky Cheng Siu-chung sprang to his team's rescue once again, scoring a 'golden goal' that sealed the Caroliners' 3-2 victory over game Sai Kung in the Smart-Soccer.Com FA Cup last night.
The former Costa Rican youth international placed an unstoppable header past Russian goalkeeper Victor Derbounov four minutes into the first half of extra time after finding Alan Au Wai-lun's right-wing cross at Mongkok Stadium.
South China were 25 minutes away from making an early exit in the tournament when Sai Kung led 2-1 thanks to Brazilian striker Leandro Simioni who scored from the penalty spot for his second goal of the night.
The penalty was given after South China defender Leung Shing-kit collided heavily with Sai Kung midfielder Szeto Man-chun.
Simioni had given his side a shock 1-0 lead after just five minutes, chesting the ball before slotting home.
It took 23 minutes of sustained pressure before South China found the equaliser, Gerry Laterza pulled the ball back for Au to crash home from 10 yards.
