Antony Leung has been reappointed chairman of the Education Commission, the high-powered advisory body on education policy.
Mr Leung, managing director of Chase Manhattan Bank, will complete a further two-year term from today to March 31, 2002.
He was first appointed a member of the commission in his capacity as chairman of the University Grants Committee in 1993, before taking the chairmanship in April 1998.
Secretary for Education and Manpower Joseph Wong Wing-ping said: 'As chairman of the commission Mr Leung has demonstrated able leadership and strong commitment.
Mr Leung's reappointment will help ensure the continuance of the reform exercise.' The exercise, covering the entire education system, earmarked in Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa's Policy Address in 1998, will result in a final consultation paper to be released in May.
