Fireworks shows should not be allowed at Disneyland when the Air Pollution Index is high, concern groups say.
The Citizens Party made the comment in its submission to the consultation on the theme-park project's environmental impact assessment. The consultation period ends on Tuesday.
It said the results of various calculations on air quality and pollution emissions in the report were unclear and needed clarifying.
The Civil Engineering Department's assessment report predicted that the planned nightly fireworks shows would only contribute marginal increases in atmospheric pollution levels.
But assistant director of Friends of the Earth, Plato Yip Kwong-to, echoed the Citizens Party's call for a ban on fireworks when the index was high.
He said an expert on atmospheric issues he had consulted feared pollutants from the fireworks might not disperse when the Air Pollution Index was high.
He said the pollutants may then accumulate at Penny's Bay, which is a half-enclosed valley.
