SAR world's fourth-largest holder of foreign currency

Hong Kong's foreign currency assets stood at US$93.8 billion at the end of last month, up from US$93.1 billion at the end of February, according to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. This ranked Hong Kong as the world's fourth-largest holder of foreign currency reserves, after Japan, the mainland and Taiwan. The total represented more than seven times the currency in circulation, or about 39 per cent of Hong Kong dollar M3, one of the highest ratios in the world.
