About 40 people were last night being interviewed by police probing the killing of a young worker found bludgeoned to death on a construction site in Western yesterday.
Investigators say Yan Yuet-bun, 27, is the second person to die in a so-called 'head bashing' robbery in the past year.
His death took the number of murders so far this year to 10 and will fuel fears of rising crime. Government figures released last weekend showed an overall increase in crime of nearly 10 per cent.
Yan was married and only arrived in Hong Kong from the mainland late last year.
He was found lying unconscious on the sixth floor of a 28-floor building under construction in First Street.
His younger brother, 25, who worked on the fifth floor at the site, told investigators that a gold necklace, mobile phone and $500 in cash had been stolen.
