United States-based Motorola has introduced four sub-brands of WAP (wireless application protocol) mobile telephones to bolster its presence in a market increasingly inseparable from the Internet.
'From now on, all our new handsets will be equipped with WAP technology, which we hope will prompt existing non-WAP mobile mobile phone users to turn to such phones,' said Cedric So Wai-hong, general manager of Motorola's Hong Kong office.
Mr So said that of the two million hansets sold in the SAR last year, 600,000 were Motorola models.
