A doctor would not put the honour of his profession at risk by molesting his nurse, a magistrate heard yesterday.

Lawrence Lok SC, defending the doctor who is accused of five counts of indecently assaulting his teenage assistant, told Eastern Court magistrate Timothy Casewell that such allegations were 'so out of character'.

The doctor, 56, who practises at a clinic in Causeway Bay, denies the charges. His former assistant, who was 17 at the time of the alleged offences between July 25 to August 1, 1998, accused him of molesting her at the clinic.

The teenager had said the doctor indecently assaulted her during two internal examinations and fondled her breast on another occasion.

Earlier, the doctor had admitted in court that he had not used surgical gloves during the examinations, but said he never molested her.

He told the court that on another occasion, another nurse was present and he did not touch the girl's breast.
