Ms Loh has urged Liberal Party vice-chairman Ronald Arculli to resign if he wants to have any chance of being elected in the Hong Kong Island constituency in September's Legislative Council poll.
She said she had a brief chat with Mr Arculli, who had sought her opinion on where her votes really were.
'I don't think my votes are so easily transferable to someone else. My advice to Ronald Arculli was that if he wants to have any votes at all, then he has got to resign from the Liberal Party.' Ms Loh said the 1998 polls showed people did not want to elect another Liberal in geographical polls when they found they had already secured so many functional seats.
Analysts believe Ms Loh's decision might boost Mr Arculli's chances if he decides to join the fray in the Hong Kong Island constituency. Mr Arculli denied her decision would influence his election plan.
'There will not be any effect because I have yet to make up my mind on the bid.
'Her decision will not be the sole factor I will take into account. I will make a final decision after considering all possible factors,' he said.
