Andaman Marine has introduced a 91-cabin, 220-bed Norwegian cruise ship, the King Olav, as a floating hotel anchored off the Similan Islands to act as a base for cruises around Similan and Phi Phi Islands in south Thailand. The former cargo and passenger vessel has a restaurant and disco, but few of the amenities of the big cruise ships, as guests spend their time mainly diving and snorkelling. Four other ships, also from Norway, ferry passengers from Phuket to and from Phi Phi, Similan and Phang Nga islands. One-day excursions without accommodation are also available on the King Olav.
