Who wants to be a rupee millionaire? News Television India is hoping to cash in on the frenzy surrounding the hit US quiz show Who Wants to be A Millionaire? with an Indian version.

Hindi movie superstar Amitabh Bachchan will host the show starting in June, testing both the nerves and knowledge of contestants.
But, unlike its US namesake, the top prize will be 10 million rupees (HK$1.75 million), a huge sum in a country where average annual per capita income is 16,000 rupees.
The American show attracts 30 million viewers, and a version is also aired in Britain.
A Japanese programme is expected to hit prime time this month.
