Overseas moves begin

Mainland household appliance manufacturers, facing over-capacity and a stagnant domestic market, have started to expand overseas, according to official media. Shenzhen Konka Electronic has taken the first step towards establishing a colour television assembly factory in India, Xinhua reported. Changhong Electronics has collaborated with Russian counterparts on a television assembly factory in Moscow. Qingdao Haier Refrigerator has invested US$30 million in a United States factory with a production capacity of about 200,000 units a year.
