TORRENTIAL rain over Hongkong, recorded at 65.5 millimetres, led to flooding in Sai Kung, Kwai Chung and Yuen Long. One event that suffered from the dampener was the Cheung Chau Bun Festival, forcing child participants to cover their costumes with raincoats. The Wan Chai landmark we are all familiar with - the red-brick Methodist Church at the corner of Hennessy and Johnson roads - will soon disappear to make way for a 22-storey commercial and community building. The sight of a completely burnt out CMB bus startled passersby along the Island Eastern Corridor in North Point. Fortunately, no one was hurt when the bus caught fire. Meanwhile, six lovely ladies were chosen to take part in the final of the Miss Hongkong 1993 pageant, fixed for June 6.
