The longer surfers have had Internet access, the more they spend, according to a research company's latest report. ActivMedia's lastest report examined on-line purchasing patterns of 2,250 experienced cyber-shoppers. It found that those who had Internet access for five years spent twice as much as recent arrivals to the Internet. More people were purchasing goods and services on the Internet, according to a recent study conducted by the Angus Reid Group. The study shows that 120 million people have made purchases over the Net worldwide. The top 10 countries in consecutive order where adults have bought on-line are: the United States, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, Germany, Japan, Finland, Britain and the Netherlands. Microsoft recently launched its Pocket PC operating system for handheld devices. The company claims the system is the smallest, lightest, and has the best Internet access and longest battery life. The Pocket PC can go on- line, run games and play music. Russian President-elect Vladimir Putin has made a foray into on-line books. His translated memoirs, First Person, was available on-line at the same time that it hits US bookstores on Saturday. Electronic distributor netLibrary obtained the net rights.
