SUNDAY strollers flocked to Victoria Park to join in the fun and games on the first day of the week-long Green Hongkong Campaign. Throughout the week, a series of tree-planting sessions in 10 districts will stress the importance of greenery to the territory. Urban Council chairman Dr Ronald Leung Ding-bong said the campaign message was that economic progress had to be balanced against preservation of Hongkong's environment. Hundreds of people browsed among the 25 stalls on Victoria Park football pitch, joining in games and watching a children's play on the environment. The campaign will end on Saturday with a tree-planting day in Shek O country park.
