An indoor action game played with laser guns has provided youths with a fun alternative to traditional war games.
Playing war games in remote areas in the New Territories is inconvenient for many people. The need for heavy protective gear makes it difficult for amateurs to take part in the game.
A new game arena in Tsim Sha Tsui, which opened last October, allows young people to join in the fun in an adventure zone, where laser beams replace coloured bullets.
Megazone manager Reg Leung Chi-on said traditional war games, which require a lot of energy and careful planning, failed to meet the needs of young people.
'Many teenagers see war games as exciting, but they are put off by the amount of preparations required. War games are about strategic attack and tactics. It requires teamwork and communication skills,' he said.
Mr Leung said youths nowadays were confined to activities such as karaoke, shopping and studying. 'They need to exercise and keep their in shape.' Laser war games are similar to traditional war games, except they are played indoors. The 6,317-square-metre adventure zone features an undulating platform with obstacles in a maze-like environment.
