A two-year-old girl was abducted by a stranger yesterday as she waited with her brother outside a block of flats in Tseung Kwan O. Wong Mei-kei's mother was just minutes away, taking her eldest son to school. A woman approached Mei-kei and her five-year-old brother as they stood outside Sheung Shun House, Sheung Tak Estate. She offered to buy them sweets and took them to a nearby Circle K store, where she bought sweets for the boy before taking Mei-kei away, the boy said. He was found when his mother returned minutes later. He said he had never seen the woman before. Detective Chief Inspector James Law Poon-kee, who is leading the hunt, said a description and photographs of Mei-kei had been circulated force-wide. Mei-kei, who weighs 13.6kg, was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and a pair of matching shorts. She had a pink Hello Kitty bag on her back and was wearing pink shoes. The woman was said to be aged between 25 and 27 with long hair. She was wearing a dark T-shirt, grey skirt and light-coloured sandals. Police will check the convenience store's video surveillance film today. Last night they were trying to contact the girl's father, who works in Discovery Bay. Police were searching for two brothers, aged seven and 13, who disappeared along the Island Resort waterfront in Chai Wan while fishing.
