Man On The Moon is titled after the REM song and Michael Stipe shows up here with an 'original score' credit. But name-checks come fast and furious on this film. The cast of Taxi shows up playing themselves (with the exception of Danny DeVito, who has a leading part as comedian Andy Kaufman's agent and whose company produced the film). David Letterman hosts his own show on the film and Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michael also plays himself, as does wrestler Jerry Lawler and Kaufman's writing partner Bob Zmuda. The movie's largest scene is set during Kaufman's grandiose final performance at Carnegie Hall - coincidentally, Jim Carrey (right) and his ex-wife Melissa Womer were in the audience on that particular night. Womer also has a tiny part in Man On The Moon - why leave anybody out? - as a waitress.
