Students urged to make innovations yet recognise excellence in traditional culture

The Confucian concepts of 'education for all' and 'teaching to suit individual needs' were deemed pioneering ideas in general education today, said Dr Chui Hong-sheng, president of the Hang Seng School of Commerce, at the Confucian Ho Kwok Pui Chun College.

Dr Chui was guest-of-honour at the college's open day cum 10th anniversary opening ceremony. He said that a quality school should build a good atmosphere, foresee and understand social needs and above all, be bold in making innovations in order to progress in the 21st century.

Dr Chui praised former principal Chan Lee Bik- wah, and present principal Woo Kwok-yin for their success in establishing a multimedia learning centre with a grant from the Quality Education Fund.

Confucian Academy president Dr Tong Yun-kai, in his speech, encouraged students to make unremitting efforts, while recognising excellence in traditional Chinese culture. He also urged students to improve themselves and strive for innovations to meet the needs of the modern era.

The theme for an open day for the public was 'Innovation and Recognition'.

Various subjects, teams and departments put up exhibitions around the school.
