More graduates from the University of Science and Technology last year found jobs within a year of leaving than the year before, but they are being paid less than their predecessors. Of 1,826 of last year's graduates, 84 per cent now in work in the business, manufacturing, education and construction sectors. The figure for last year was 80 per cent. Just 1.8 per cent remain unemployed, three per cent fewer than in 1998. However, the graduates earn an average of $11,438 a month, seven per cent less than their counterparts in 1998.
