UK-based cargo charter airline Air Foyle has transported 44 tonnes of mining equipment from Arlanda International Airport, near Stockholm in Sweden to Beijing. The massive size of the equipment made shipment possible only with Air Foyle's giant Antonov AN-124 plane. ''Under normal circumstances, the equipment would have been shipped by boat, a trip that would have taken at least 30 days,'' said Mr Jim Hoffman of Trade Transportation Logistics, the Los Angeles-based freight forwarder who chartered the aircraft on behalf of a client in Beijing. But in this case, the equipment was required urgently in China. The equipment, had dimensions of up to 4.79 metres high, 2.64 metres wide and 3.55 metres long, with one item weighing 13.2 tonnes.
