Lau Chin-shek said he would not appeal against the Democratic Party's reported decision to expel him over his dual membership with The Frontier. 'If I wanted to do so, I would have appeared before the disciplinary committee and presented my case at the hearing,' he said. 'I respect the party's decision.' While there had been no confirmation from the party, it was understood a three-member committee reached a unanimous verdict on Monday to expel Mr Lau. The central committee will decide whether to endorse the verdict on June 15. Mr Lau said it was a matter of regret that he would have to leave the party. His membership had been suspended for a year over violation of the Democratic Party's code of conduct because of his dual membership. He was a founding member of both groups.
