I refer to the report headlined, 'Pupil kills teacher after suspension' (Sunday Morning Post, May 28).

The teacher was shot in the head at a school in Lake Worth, Florida. It was the last paragraph that caught my eye, with the leader of the local teachers' union, Shelley Vana, quoted as saying, 'This could happen anywhere. We know that now.' Wrong! This could only happen in a country that allows its citizens to believe that they've all got parts in a Wild West film set in 1850, which gives them the right to parade around the streets with a gun. Get up to date America. In this subject, you've failed to graduate.
